Sewing Practice

This term, we have been busy mastering the craft of sewing. Our theme 'Let Me Entertain You' lead us to the idea of creating puppets to entertain.
Firstly, we looked at the ways people are entertained, then we defined entertainment. We thought our definitions were far better than even our dictionaries definitions!
We then decided that puppets would be a great way to entertain. We began by first designing finger puppets. Our puppets were designed to tell jokes, act in plays, sing or dance.
Before we began sewing our finger puppets, we had to practice sewing till we felt confident to start creating our puppets.

We are very excited about our second art project for the Bellevue art exhibition. Firstly we looked at tropical fish, their shape, colour, patterns and the way they swim in schools. We used tinfoil and permanant markers to create the illusion of fish swimming in the ocean.

Kiwi Can

This term in Kiwi Can, we are learning about resilience. Last term we read the story 'Are you my Mother' and compared the little bird to Shaun Quincey. Both the little bird and Shaun showed perserverance.
On Thursday, at Kiwi Can, we were taken to the school hall to complete, in pairs a obstacle course. Sounds easy? Yeah right! We had to wear an article of clothing between us. This made completing the course very difficult, but we all persevered and overcame the difficulties.

We are very excited having started our first art project for the art exhibition in term 3. We are learning to create texture using tools we make from card and paint. Our next step is to create a village with these paintings using a variety rectangles.
